This is an eureka moment in the war on cancer. New medicines, imaging techniques, and the latest in artificial intelligence applications are waging war on over 200 types of cancer. Another factor is that we have a better understanding how individual foods and diet interact as a medicine to help cure cancer.
Between 2017 and 2022, cancer deaths declined 34%. This shows real progress. However, cancer is in the second place of leading causes of death with over 600,000 a year.
In the lead are heart attacks with over 700,000 annual deaths.
QUICK CANCER 101
As the trillions of our body cells regularly divide, they make 100% new copies of themselves. During this division, transcription errors may occur, in the DNA, corrupting the new cell. The new cell now has a mutation and could continue to divide into many new mutations possibly developing into future cancer. In most cases, it's our food, or lifestyle, that has caused a gene in the DNA to be corrupted. Or, more rarely, it could be something in the environment. Inherited cancer genetics happen infrequently. We will see how our immune system and other elements eliminate cancer tumors in their infancy.
Cancer was viewed by your grandparents with great concern. Today, it's viewed much differently. Cancer has moved from being a major scourge to being a problem with real solutions.
OUR OWN CANCER FIGHTERS
We are endowed with one of the most effective self-regulating anti-cancer tools on the planet. Our immune system, in connection with certain chemicals in the food that we eat, along with assists from our digestive microbiome, search out and destroy early cancers before they cause trouble.
Bringing anti-cancer lifestyle factors, under our individual controi, is possible by eating plenty of fruit, berries, leafy greens, and veggies. This and other lifestyle factors gets results.
Experts say about 70% of cancers are caused by food. Only about 6% of cancer is considered to be caused by genetics. The 24% balance of cancers are due to lifestyle, especially alcohol and smoking! Of lesser impact are toxins in the environment, and other factors we can't control.
While overall cancer rates are dropping, there are disparities among certain population groups.
Women under the age of 50 are now 82% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than men of the same age group. It is suspected that alcohol may play a big part in this disparity. Cancer experts suggest that everyone should re-set their alcohol consumption limits, especially among the young. The outer limit suggested is no more than five drinks a week. Two to three drinks a week is preferable

CANCER FIGHTING FOODS
If you want to lower your risk of cancer, here are some suggestions for plant foods that contain cancer protective compounds. These work with your immune system, genes, and other systems, to help prevent the formation of cancer at the basic cellular level.
Let’s start with legumes (beans), one of the most common foods found in areas of extended human longevity. They include kidney beans, Navy beans, soy beans, garbanzos, peas, pintos and lentils.
• Beans are great sources of protein and dietary fiber (for strengthening the immune system.
Beans.are high in protein, the building blocks for muscle and the immune system. Beans are also good sources for micro nutrients, like vitamins A, C, and E, folic acid, iron, zinc, and flavonoids. Beans keep and store well, making it easy to have them available with most meals.
• Cruciferous veggies have protective, anti-cancer compounds called indoles which help the body produce transferase enzymes that protect the integrity of DNA material, reducing the likelihood of genetic mutations and cancer.
Some of the common cruciferous veggies are; Cabbages, broccoli, bok choy, brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower, radishes, Swiss chard and turnips.
The anti-cancer agent in broccoli is glucoraphanim. This compound has had extensive anti-cancer research study. BroccoSprouts T™ contain 20 times the glucoraphanim than plain broccoli.
• Carotenes are found in colorful veggies like, bell peppers, carrots, yams, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and spinach. There are over 400 known carotenes. Lycopene is carotene found in tomatoes, that shows evidence of protecting against some common cancers.
Be sure to include lots of color in your daily meals.
The pineapple plant contains bromelain. This agent helps the immune system identify such foreign pathogens as viruses and bacteria, before they get established in the body. Bromelain activates TNF (tumor necrosis factor), a cancer fighting substance produced by the body.
If you drink tea you are already providing the body with a well known anti-cancer agent. Known as EGg, this tea compound helps to suppress an enzyme called NOX, that allows uninterrupted cancer cell growth. Once EGg goes to work the cancer cell dies.
Both black and green teas contain EGg, but green tea has about 10 times more than black tea.
ANTI-CANCER SUPPLEMENTS
Here are a couple that assist in cancer suppression:
Alpha lipoic Acid. This one strengthens the immune system and recycles anti-oxidants.
Folic Acid is a vitamin, derived from plants, that helps to protect the DNA from mutations.
Be sure and check with your health provider before taking any new supplement.
